Purgatory of the Ancients: Wild Green Flame Book 1

Neither servant of Heaven. Nor slave of Hell.Ardan grew up learning the deadly secrets of the forest at his father's side. He knew the hunt, the shadows and the dangers. The Wild never lied to him.The city did. When his father is murdered in a cold Barleron alley, Ardan is left with grief, a steel blade, and a hunger for vengeance.

Then the blade erupts in green flame — a power older than Heaven or Hell, and one that responds to his anger, his fear, and his need to hunt the man who tore his family apart. His mother has vanished into a city at war with itself. His father's killer walks free somewhere inside its walls. With his family scattered, Ardan takes shelter among mercenaries willing to teach him how to fight — and reaches, again and again, for the Wild. Now the Wild itself is under attack, and whatever is hunting it has already reached Barleron. But every time Ardan grips the power, it grips back.

His senses sharpen. His instincts change. And the closer he gets to his answers, the less certain he is which of them is doing the hunting.Purgatory of the Ancients is the first book in the Wild Green Flame series — a gritty adult epic fantasy of brutal loss, mercenary blades, and an untameable magic that serves neither Heaven nor Hell.
