Muses by Joshua Thaddeus Hill
In the 1920s, a series of murders swept through Faubourg Tremé, home of the former red-light district of New Orleans, known as Storyville. Finding herself at the scene of a theatrical homicide, reporter Sonja Grey follows a clue that leads to an ominous steamboat on the Mississippi River. A relic of the vice district, the riverboat doubled as a secret brothel for notorious passengers. Stranded in dark waters lit by a blood moon, Sonja pursues the killer among an eclectic crew of courtesans. By the time she uncovers the horrific truth of her muse, it may be too late. Fervently chasing a story, Sonja never considered the consequence of catching up to it.
