In a not so distant future technology has brought the world many advances. Advances in green technologies and energy. Advances in manufacturing and the way we live our lives. The field of robotics has transformed our society. No longer do we work simply to survive, we work to better ourselves and the world around us. Robots have taken over many of the jobs that humans are used to doing on the factory floor. Androids have taken over many of the tasks governing our homes and daily lives. Yet, even with all of our advances one fear still remains, that of artificial intelligence. Since even before the first android was crafted, society feared artificial intelligence. So when the first android came online, so to was the Bureau of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence created. A bureau much like the FBI, specifically tasked with policing the ever-growing numbers of machines in our society. Agents of the BRAI would identify and quarantine any and all AIs that arose among the millions of androids in the world. One such agent, William Conlan was doing his job when one of these rogue AIs got lose and murdered his family. His world torn apart, he picks himself back up and his first assignment brings him face to face with another rogue AI. This one has gone missing from Dyson Robotics. Stolen by its creator Orson Leeds. Orson manages to keep his creation free long enough to evolve into a full-blown consciousness, a new entity. Her name is Lexi and she strives day after day to learn and become more human than the day before. Even when she finds herself on her own, this little android continued on. Struggling day after day to grow in her mind and understand the world around her. Tragedy after tragedy, however, pushes Lexi towards the edge of control. Will she prove the world right to fear AI or will she attain her goal of humanity?

Eat it once, live it forever…

For Lacey Stamford, life is life. Mom to two, wife to none. Until one hot spring afternoon, when a simple, harmless decision changes it all.

Now, thrust suddenly into a world she’s never known, this lost soul must face the impossible: a force so evil, so unpredictable, it could destroy millions.

That is, if she refuses its ultimatum.

Aided by her ‘gifted’ son and the incomparable neuroscientist Sebastian Cannery, Lacey must plunge headfirst into the unspeakable. A dark underworld of deceivers, corrupters, and cold-blooded conglomerates.

The choice is hers: endanger her children and the new love of her life… or risk the very fate of humanity itself…

Who thought ice cream would be so difficult?

DESCRIPTION:

Finalist for a Shirley Jackson Award in the novel category.
"One of my favorite horror writers…" – Laird Barron, for Locus Magazine

"…more than a great read; it is a fascinating meditation on the nature of horror. There are supernatural elements to the book, yes, but the setting (an impoverished, ruined logging town) and the main characters (three school girls with hopes and dreams made improbable if not impossible by their realities) are a beautifully rendered commentary on the cyclical nature of real-world human tragedy." – Molly Tanzer, author of Vermilion
"Knock Knock is a powerful debut, opening strong and ending with a punch…one of the better weird horror novels of the past few years." – Justin Steele, Arkham Digest
"Beautifully written and relentlessly suspenseful, it's a great book to curl up with on a cold winter's night. Just be sure to keep the doors locked and all the lights on!" – Lucy Taylor, author of The Silence Between the Screams

At the center of S.P. Miskowski's novel-length fairy tale are three restless girls, best friends stuck in the backwater of Skillute, Washington in the late 1960s. Their neighbors and families are petty or poor, or both. They warn the girls not to go into the forest. Something evil lurks there, they say. During a playful oath, the girls wander too far and their mistake unleashes a malignant spirit that terrorizes Skillute for the next fifty years.
